Hello and welcome. My name is Hali, a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor in private practice, with bases in West-Dorset and East-Devon.
Thank you for visiting my website. I work with adults (18 plus), and my aim as a counsellor is to help you navigate a way to deal with any challenges, worries or life changes that you may be experiencing. I work in an open and relaxed way, respecting your autonomy, and aim to build a trusting, safe and respectful therapeutic relationship, which enables you to gain an awareness of why life has brought you to this point and what is going on for you.
I understand how challenging life can be, and it was through taking that first step to seek therapy myself many years ago, and finding the right counsellor for me, that changed my life. It also planted a seed, that one day I would like to train to be that person, sitting alongside another, holding space for them and encouraging them to discover the answers that they may be seeking. I am truly passionate about supporting people on their wellbeing journey and feel honoured to have found my purpose in being of service to others and through being a counsellor.
Everyone is welcome. I can help with many difficult life problems, such as - Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Redundancy/Work related Issues, Grief/Loss, Bereavement, Relationship Issues/Separation/Divorce, ADHD/ADD, OCD, Life-Transitions, Menopause, and coping with Traumatic Life Experiences/Events.
Counselling is your safe space. I will work with you, at your pace. I am not there to fix, direct or tell you what to do. Instead, I will empathically and actively listen, to what is and what isn’t said. I will be fully present, allowing you to feel understood and heard, to enable you to explore underlying emotions and thoughts, which can help you to gain understanding and clarity, as well as coping strategies that help you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
FAQs
What will happen in our first session together?
In our first paid session together, we will go over your counselling assessment, to give me a more detailed account of what brings you to therapy, including any health conditions, family history and any other relevant information that would be helpful for me to know.
In this session, I will also go over the counselling agreement again with you, clarifying confidentiality, time/day/frequency of sessions, fees and other important information. This will have already been emailed to you prior to our first session for you to review and sign.
Once we have completed your assessment, the session is yours to use as you wish and is your space entirely to be able to speak freely, in confidence. I am there to listen non-judgementally, empathically and to offer guidance where needed.
What if you as the client decide that counselling isn't for you at any stage?
If you felt at any stage that you didn’t want to continue with your counselling journey, or that I wasn’t the right counsellor for you, please let me know and we can bring the sessions to an appropriate ending. I will be led by you and it is totally your decision, if you would like to continue with sessions or not.
How many counselling sessions will we have together?
The number of sessions is usually initially decided in our first assessment session together and can be reviewed periodically. As set out in our counselling agreement, I would usually suggest a minimum of six sessions to begin with and then have a discussion of where we are at.
There isn’t a limit to the number of counselling sessions I offer. We can review this regularly, and also alter the frequency if required, and it is your decision as the client if you would like to discontinue at any stage. I would always ask that you let me know this so that we can bring the sessions to a safe ending.
